Hello and thanks for checking out my site. Since 1999, I have worked as a climbing guide for various international outfits and have had the opportunity to check out some of the planet's finer mountain landscapes. Until 2007, I worked almost exclusively in South America, spending many season's amongst Ecuador's Volcanoes, Bolivia's Cordillera Real, Peru's Cordillera Blanca and Argentina's Aconcagua. As often as possible, I tried to mix the work with personal trips and in 2006 and 2007, I headed to the Fitzroy / Cerro Torre region of Argentine Patagonia. After nearly a decade of guiding and travelling thoughout South America, I have fallen in love with the Continent and all it's inconveniences.
Since 2000, I have also spent six seasons guiding, climbing and skiing in my other favorite place on earth - Alaska. I cannot think of a better venue to nurse a beer and watch the sun race around the horizon than AK in the spring.
In 2007, I worked as an assistant guide on an Adventure Consultants expedition to Ama Dablam in Nepal. I followed that trip with a six week layover in Thailand, and so began yet another affair with a wild and beautiful part of the earth.
For the past five years, I have supplemeted guiding with work as a freelance writer and photographer. My projects have appeared in numerous publications including Powder, Gripped, Off-Piste, The Ski Journal, MEC, The Canadian Alpine Journal, Backcountry, Black Diamond, High Line and Kootenay Mountain Culture.
Currently, I am based in Canmore, AB and am an ACMG Assistant Alpine and Assistant Ski Guide. I guide local ice and snow in the winter and am working towards full ACMG Certification.
I hope you enjoy perusing this blog and feel free to contact me with any questions. (Contrary to popular belief, it is possible to ask dumb questions and I'll make sure to let you know if you stumble upon one of them).
